Full Description
PRN 36801
A fluxgate gradiometer survey was undertaken along a section of the proposed Market Deeping to Deeping St Nicholas Water Main reinforcement water main. A potential ditch was recorded at the northern end of the survey. However, this shares an alignment with existing drains and field boundaries, possibly indicating a relatively recent origin.{1}
During a watching brief, a ditch was seen in approximately the same location as this anomaly. A spread of charcoal fragments was seen nearby. It is thought that these features may represent late Iron Age or Roman remains which were buried by flood sediments but no artefacts were found nearby to support or refute this. {2}{3}
