Full Description

PRN 64395 Former Methodist chapel of 1859, converted into a house in the 1930s. This building has stone walls with an ashlar front and slate roof and is situated within the Wilsford conservation area. {1} The site was visited in 2009. This chapel was the predecessor of the chapel next door which was built in 1899 (PRN 64394). The function of this building, following the opening of the new chapel, and preceeding its conversion to a house in the 1930s, is unknown. It is assumed that it continued to be used in some way by the Primitive Methodist society perhaps as a church hall. It was built in 1859 and opened in 1861. It is constructed of coursed rubble with an ashlar front of three bays with a central round-arched door, and divided semi-circular light above, flanked by flat-headed upvc windows with ashlar heads and cills. The gabled roof has a slate covering and gable chimneys.The ashlar date tablet is obscured.{2}{3}
