Full Description

PRN 70531 Little is known about this church and even its location is uncertain (the location given here is approximate). It was previously thought to be located on the site of the Sessions House, although this has now been shown to have been the location of St Rumbold's (see PRN 70281). This may have been the second of the churches founded by Colswein in his new estate sometime between 1066 and 1086 (although earlier authors suggest St Augustine's, PRN 70044) - St Peter Ad Fontem (PRN 70530) is the other. By 1428, the parish had no inhabitants and there is no further mention of it in documentary sources. There is no reference to the sale of the church's assests during the Reformation period, therefore it seems likely that the church had already been demolished prior to this. {1}{2}{4} The church is first mentioned in documentary sources in 1207, and had 'dropped out' by 1549. {3}
