Full Description

A Wesleyan Methodist chapel called the Zion Chapel is shown on the 1905 O.S. map. {1} The building is still shown with the same name on the current O.S. map, so is presumably still standing and still in use. {2} The Wesleyan Reform Chapel was visited in 2009. It is still in use as a chapel. It is a gabled red brick building with yellow gault brick dressings and a slate roof. The broad five-bay front has a projecting central bay, with a gabled porch and ashlar tablet above 'Zion 1883', between pointed windows with yellow gault brick dressings, which also define the central bay, the porch and the main building.The eaves cornices and gable verges of the chapel, porch and school room have a row of terracotta nail head ornament above a course of yellow brick with dentil brick in the porch. There is a stringcourse of yellow brick at the level of the windows and a second across the gables. The gable elevations have two pointed windows. A probable Sunday School in the same style, with the same decorative features, is attached behind at right angles. {3}{4}
