Summary
Late Neolithic/early Bronze Age features at South Witham Quarry
Type and Period (1)
- PIT (Middle Neolithic to Early Bronze Age - 3000 BC to 1501 BC)
Protected Status/Designation
- None recorded
Full Description
PRN 36784
Two small pits or postholes containing sherds of Beaker pottery and worked flints were identified during the excavation of the Iron Age site. The pottery appears to represent a single vessel or partial vessel in each pit. The pits were located next to each other and away from later features. These features are insufficient to suggest the nature of activity at the site during this period but do confirm that people were present in the area during the late Neolithic/early Bronze Age. {1}
