Full Description

PRN 13866 During a watching brief on land off Manwarings Way, Swineshead, a group of undated features were recorded. In the southeast of the site, a linear feature considered to be a ditch was uncoverd. This ditch ran approximately northwest to southeast and was V-shaped with steep sides cut in to alluvial silts. Fired or baked silts was recovered from the single fill of this ditch. Another east to west aligned ditch was found towards the east of the plot, containing mussel and dog welk shell. Towards the west of the plot, a pit or gully terminus was uncovered. To the north a circular pit was found. The pit was not fully excavated but was over 0.80m in depth, and contained at least three fills. One of the fills was charcoal rich, and may possibly represent the remains of a bonfire.{1}{2}
