Full Description

PRN 46672 A parish church dating from 1892. It was constructed of red brick with limestone ashlar dressings and has a slate roof with stone coped gables, a cross finial, dentillated eaves and a gabled west bellcote with a pointed opening containing the bell and cross finial. The chruch has a west porch, nave and chancel in one with the north vestry. There is also a monument to Sir John Guevara, who died in 1607, of white and grey and orange streaked alabaster with a black marble inscription plaque, showing a kneeling figure in a ruff, pantaloons and armour. The monument has a prieu dieu and flanking composite marble columns, an ornate apron and an entablature with a large coat of arms. Another monument is dedicated to Francis Velles de Guevara, who died in 1592. It was constructed of white and orange streaked alabaster and has a black marble inscription slab.
