Full Description

Saxo-Norman and medieval deposits were identified during trial trenching on Michaelgate. One sherd of Saxo-Norman sandy ware was recovered, along with 28 sherds of medieval pottery. Animal bone was also recovered. A fragment of crucible was identified which suggests that metal working may have been carried out nearby. {1}{2} During a watching brief in 2007, at Strelizia, Michaelgate, Lincoln, seventeen sherds of 850 to 1250 AD pottery were found. {3}{4}
