Full Description

PRN 70457 The Wesleyan Methodist Chapel is first depicted on the County Series First Edition Ordnance Survey Map of 1887. The building originally fronted onto Newark Road. {1} A Weslyan Methodist community was established in a chapel in Bracebridge by 1887 on the corner of Francis Street and Newark Road. {2} By 1905 the building had become a Roman Catholic Chapel, and the street frontage had been altered following the construction of Ewart Street. The chapel was probably deconsecrated sometime in the 1980s. {3} The building now serves as a sports centre (boxing club). {4}
