The Wesleyan Methodist Chapel on Monks road is first depicted on the Ordnance Survey map of 1905. It is likely that the chapel was built during the late Victorian to early Edwardian expansion of the city (1895 to 1910). {1}
Building accounts and other documents relating to the chapel suggest a building date of 1907. {2}
The Edwardian building fronts onto Walmer Street, with a 1970s extension to the north which fronts onto Monks Road. {2}
