Full Description

Early nineteenth century building, two storeys high with attics and hipped slate roofs. For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {1} Additional reference. {2} 254-256 Eastgate are a pair of semi-detached villas, probably built in the 1820's. They are of red brick, generally laid in an English bond variant, with stucco details and welsh slate covering to the roofs. They have a symmetrical plan with a porch at each side elevation and a piano nobile arrangement, with polite rooms on the ground and first floors, and the kitchen and service range in the basement. Both villas have two storeys, sharing a hipped roof with oversailing bracketed eaves and a central stack; both have an additional stack at the rear.
