Full Description

Former school. Single storey cross-wing plan rendered brick building, under a pitched gabled pantile roof. Coped gables. One tall ridge stack. {1} Seen on the 1887 and 1905 OS maps of Wellingore in a long single range with a porch to the south. {2}{3} White's 1856 Trade Directory states that a school in the village was erected in around 1851, supported by subscription and government grant. In 1856 that school was attended by 80 pupils. {4} It is unclear when the building ceased to be used as a school.
