A former Wesleyan Methodist Chapel is located on High Street. It is constructed of red and yellow brick, and has a gabled front with a tall centre bay, dated 1887 'Jubillee'. There may have been an earlier chapel on the site which was mentioned in 1856. {1}{2}{3}
The former chapel was visited in 2009. It is now in use as business premises or arts centre. It has an adjacent attached Sunday School built of red brick with gault brick dressings, dentil brick cornices and a tablet 'Wesleyan Sunday School 1925'. The chapel has a tall, projecting central bay on the front elevation with a raised gable and a stepped pattern in yellow gault brick in the gable and a tablet '1887 Jubilee'. The side elevations have five bays with dogtooth brickwork in the eaves cornice. The predecessor of this chapel was built in 1837 by Primitive Methodists but was sold to Wesleyan Methodists around 1842. The new chapel was built in front of the old one in 1887. It was closed in 1993.{6}{7}
