Full Description

The current parish of Holland Fen with Brothertoft takes in parts of other parishes, some of which no longer exist as parishes. Its current boundaries (2004) take in Brothertoft, Pelhams Lands, Harts Lands, Holland Fen and parts of Kirton and Frampton. Harts Grounds were extra parochial and was never an official parish. The area has revealed no evidence of medieval settlement and never had a defined centre of population and the few inhabitants occupy remote farmhouse areas. {1} The population in 1811 stood at 52 rising to its peak in 1881 at 79 but only 20 years later in 1901 it had fallen back to 52. {2}{3}
