Broughton House School is a former rectory or small country house constructed of stone and brick with a hipped slate roof. It was rebuilt in 1707, but the extruded angles of the front may be remnants of a much earlier house. The canted bay windows are probably late eighteenth century. It was remodelled in 1821, which possibly include the Doric veranda.
