Monument record MLI85892 - Medieval and post medieval ponds, Priory Close, Deeping St James
Summary
Medieval and post medieval ponds, perhaps associated with a monastic site
Type and Period (1)
- POND (Medieval to Post Medieval - 1066 AD? to 1900 AD?)
Protected Status/Designation
- None recorded
Full Description
PRN 36507
A medieval and post medieval pond was recorded during a watching brief. The ponds are possibly contemporary and were backfilled at different times. It is also possible that they are connected with a monastic site that is known to have existed south of the site. A single piece of glazed ridge tile was recovered from the medieval pond. This tile, which is of a fairly high status type further supports the ponds being part of a monastic site. {1}{2}
