Full Description

Earthworks of medieval ridge and furrow, identified on aerial photography by the National Mapping Programme. {1} Traces of the ridge and furrow were recorded in February 2016, during magnetometry survey of land off Toll Bar Road. The remains were identified as a series of parallel linear magnetic anomalies, aligned on a roughly north to south axis. {2} Further traces of medieval ridge and furrow were recorded in April 2016, during a subsequent phase of trial trenching on land off Toll Bar Road. The furrows were again on the north to south alignment previously identified, and were spaced roughly 10m apart. {3}{4}
