A programme of non-intrusive archaeological fieldwork, involving systematic field walking and rapid magnetic susceptibility survey, was carried out on the site of a proposed flood relief zone in the vicinity of the River Warring to the north of Horncastle. Fieldwalking recovered low densities of material dating from the Mesolithic to the early modern periods, with a relative concentration of artefacts in the northwest of the site. Seven Late Neolithic / Early Bronze Age flint implements were recovered, forming part of a lithic scatter located to the southeast of Milestone House, West Ashby. The finds included four flakes, one utilized flake, an end/side scraper and a core {1} {2}
