Full Description
PRN 62877
Site of Primitive Methodist chapel, East gate, was in existence by 1951. Unsure if the chapel was gone by the 1950s. {1}
A Primitive Methodist chapel opened in 1840, at a site at the junction of Lincoln Road and Eastgate, and closed in about 1872. This may be the the chapel referred to in 1856 and may be the New Street Primitive Methodist chapel, built in 1839, which was recorded in 1851. It no longer survives. How this chapel relates to the extant former Mission Hall in High Street (PRN 65621), which is also said to have been a former Primitive Methodist chapel at some point, is unclear. That building could have replaced the Easgate chapel as the Primitive Methodist chapel at some point after 1872.{3}{4}
