Full Description
PRN 54866
An archaeological survey was undertaken on lands forming part of the Brocklesby Estate, comprising field observation and rapid fieldwalking (on a non-collecting basis) and a desk-top assessment. This was done to appraise the archaeological resource of the estate as part of a wider Heritage Landscape Management Plan. The survey identified a low mound c.4.5m in diameter and 0.5m high. The mound appeared to be composed of charcoal and charred wood. It is not certain that the mound represents an archaeological site as such, and may be the remains of charcoal production. Alternatively, it may be no more than the remnant of deliberate wood burning during re-planting operations. There was no evidence for ancillary features {1}
