PRN 34675
An archaeological evaluation (trial trenching) on land at Wharf Road, Stamford, identified a number of features dating to between the 9th and 12th century, indicative of small scale settlement or industrial activity in the area. The features include cut features - postholes, pits and ditches, most of which were shallow and ephemeral, perhaps due to truncation. The pottery assemblage was dominated by locally made Stamford wares, dated to the Saxo-Norman period (850 to 1150AD). {1}{2}
