Full Description

Cropmarks of an undated enclosure to the north-west of Brinkhill were identified on aerial photographs by the National Mapping Programme. {1} A considerably more dense complex of archaeological features was revealed in this location in June and October 2011, during magnetometry survey along selected parts of the proposed Covenham Water Treatment Works to Boston Transfer pipeline. The previously recorded enclosure was identified along with a large number of other ditches and pits. Although no exact date could be determined, the features appeared to be cut through by the remains of medieval ridge and furrow, and were thought to be characteristic of a probable former settlement site. {2}{3}
