Full Description

PRN 54825 Evaluation trenches were excavated as part of a archaeological evaluation on land off Church Lane, Great Limber (between 28th and 30th May 2003). The investigations exposed a number of undated pits, a post-hole and an east to west aligned ditch. Little could be established about the function of these features; whether these features form components relating to the recorded medieval earthworks or cropmarks, or post medieval garden features is unknown. One observation made was that the ditch is on the exact alignment of an existing boundary, c.15m to the east. A single sherd of 12th century pottery was recovered, but it is likely to be residual, or possibly derived from truncation of earlier deposits. {1} {2}
