Full Description

PRN 44701 The present St. Andrew's church (PRN 44672) dates from c. 1770 and replaced an earlier church which was demolished prior to that date. {1}. A Late Saxon church, referred to in the Domesday Survey of c.1086, may have also existed at the site. {2} A watching brief at the church identified a short length of wall, aligned north-south, and 1.4m wide by 0.20m high. No floor levels or foundation cut were observed in association with the wall. The wall is thought to be part of a former church, though not necessarily that mentioned in the Domesday Survey. No artefacts were recovered. {3}{4}
