PRN 62797 Parish church in the Early English style in the 12th century with additions or alterations in the 13th and 15th centuries. The nave and chancel were restored in 1854. Constructed of coursed limestone rubble with a plain tile roof with ashlar coped gables. For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {1} Unbuttressed west tower, probably older than Early English, as the masonry changes and the tower recedes below the bell openings. However, there is much 19th century work. Early English tower arch. The bell-openeings are two of one light each, with a continuous roll. Heads left and right; also heads in the spandrels to the north and a little man. Corbel table and gargoyles. All of this seems to be work of the 19th century in the Early Englsih style. The nave and chancel is dated to 1854-5 (by Mr Huddlestone). Early English north door with dogtooth in arch and hoodmould. Insode, the Decprtaed former northern arcade is exposed. The chancel has a busily decorated east wall with blind arches with stencilled inscriptions and a diapered reredos. The font is early 14th century, hexagonal with a square base. The sides of the bowl are decortaed with fleurons. Inside the church is a continental sculpture of a guardian angel and saint, made out of wood and dating to the Baroque period. There is also a late 18th century hatchment for John King, part of a burial monument to Edward King (died 1617) and incised slab to Isabel de la Launde c.1400.{2}{3}{4} A series of photographs of the church and its interior appear in a recent historical study of the village.{5}
