Full Description

PRN 33455 Eleven silver coins, including 4 of Edward IV (1471-83) and 5 of Henry VII (1495-1500), were found in the foundation trenches of a new school at The Park. Also found during excavation were animal bones and medieval pottery. An electroplated facsimile of one of the coins is now (1956) on display at the school.{1} Hoard of 11 silver coins, Edward IV - Henry VII and Alphonsus V, deposited about c.1500 found in 1956 and 1959 on the site of the school at the Park. {2} Two more coins were added to the hoard, a half groat of Henry VII c.1495-1500 minted at Canterbury and an Espadim of Alphonsus V of Portugal 1432-81. {3}
