Full Description

St Michael and All Angels' Church is located in South Hykeham. The unbuttressed west tower has 13th to 14th century lower parts and Decorated bell openings. The rest of the church was rebuilt in 1869. {1}{2}{3}{4} For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {5} Two test pits were dug to the immediate east of the post-medieval part of the church in July 2013, to ascertain the reason for structural defects in its apse. Evidence for the earlier church building on the site of the current building was recovered in the form of limestone rubble and roof tile fragments. {6}{7}
