A 'camp' is indicated on a map of 1819, which was called 'Roman' by Allen (II 276). Trollope describes 'Kyme Camp' as a parallelogram 554 feet by 354 feet and with two concentric banks. The outer was 20 feet wide and the inner 13 feet. Within the area were three mounds. C.W.Phillips visited the site in 1929, and found that there was no trace of this camp save that the site was on a slight knoll. The land was arable and under roots. Some burnt flint was recovered. {1}{2}{3}{4}{5}{6}{7}
The site no longer survives as an earthwork, but is apparent as a cropmark. It was fieldwalked as part of the Lincolnshrie Car Dyke project. A thin scatter of flints, including a scraper, were noted as well as three sherds of medieval pottery and a single sherd of Roman pottery (see also 63162-64). {8}
