A church is mentioned in the Domesday Survey as being part of the landholding of Geoffrey Alselin at Brauncewell. {1}
The present church is sixteenth century, and it was rebuilt in the early nineteenth century. The chancel was rebuilt in 1855-57. It was declared redundant in 1973, and is now preserved by the Lincolnshire Old Churches Trust. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and ashlar, and it has slate and tile roofs. There is a late tenth-twelfth century grave cover or marker, presently in the west end of the nave floor, south of the west tower. {4}
