Full Description

PRN 35711 During a watching brief on a pipeline, a series of north-west/south-east aligned gullies and a ditch were recorded. The gullies were undated but the ditch was thought to be of late 17th or early 18th century date, as a clay pipe of this date was recovered from it. The similar alignment of the gullies with the ditch make it likely that the features are contemporary.{1}{2} Deposits of silty sand with limestone inclusions and a convex upper surface were tentatively identified as a road circa 3.7m in width, as cart tracks were recorded in the surface and the alignment of the feature corresponds with the northerly continuation of a minor road extending southwards from the A52.{1}{2}
