Full Description

Six sherds of 12th -13th century pottery were recovered during a watching brief at 4 Wilsford Lane, Ancaster. The sherds are unabraded and are therefore likely to be from settlement rather than part of a manuring scatter. {1}{2} A buried soil of likely medieval date was recorded in March 2012, at the junction Ermine Street and Wilsford Lane, during the monitoring of groundworks for the installation of a new electrical cable at Ancaster. A small assemblage of 13th century medieval pottery was recovered from the deposit, along with a small quantity of redeposited Roman material (see PRN 30324). {3}{4}
