Full Description

44470 Built in 1861 by C. Clark of Horncastle to replace a post mill, this tower mill worked until 1936 when the sails were damaged and had to be removed. It was eventually dismantled and the tower now stands in a modern farming complex, used as a store. It had four patent sails, driving three pairs of stones, two grey and one French. It also retained a smutter and flour machine into the 1930s, the latter especially being a rare survival. {1} A tower mill dating from the early 19th century which was constructed of red brick and some render.
