Full Description

62305 Evans Farmhouse was built in c.1782, of red brick and pantile roof. The farm here is named Top Farm on the OS map. For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {1}{2} A building survey of the house and its associated farm buildings (PRN 65696) was carried out prior to proposed alterations. The farmhouse is thought to have been built in 1782 for the Whitchcote family (this date is based on a lead pump which previously stood in the yard) and is a typical mid 18th century four-room, double-piled house with M-shaped roof. It was derelict prior to 1987, when it underwent extensive renovation. During the renovation, attention was paid to period detail and some features (such as fireplaces) were moved from elsewhere in the house and some may even have come from other buildings. Due to the renovation, it is difficult to ascertain which internal features are original and in their original locations, and many features have been removed. However, the internal layout of the house is largely unaltered, and some features such as doors, cupboards and archways appear to be original. {1}{2} Top Farm, Timberland. Extant 19th century farmstead. Row. The farmhouse is detached from the main working complex. Isolated location. Large modern sheds are located to the side of the site. {5}
