Full Description
PRN 35645
During a watching brief on a residential development, a number of ditches, pits and postholes were recorded. Although devoid of dating evidence, these features were sealed by a ploughsoil containing Neolithic to post-medieval finds, and so are presumed to be of Neolithic date. The features were concentrated along the western and southern margins of the development site, with the highest concentration occurring in a service trench running north of a possible henge monument (see PRN 34017). The features are therefore thought to represent settlement activity and land partition or drainage, possibly associated with the Neolithic henge monument. A group of postholes in Plot 44 may represent timber structures or fencing.{1}{2}
