Full Description

PRN 62268 St Denys' church dates to the Decorated period, though the chancel was rebuilt in 1878 by C H Fowler, and the north aisle has a five-light post-Reformation window. The arcades are of three bays, and the chancel has rich Perpendicular sedilia and small lierne-vaults above the seats. The font is a Norman drum font. {1} St Denys' is built of coursed limestone rubble and ashlar with lead and slate roofs. The church dates from the 12th century with 14th, 15th and 16th century additions. The chancel was rebuilt in 1878, and the church restored in 1907-8. The west tower is of two stages with a set-back spire. The south aisle has a piscina and double aumbry, and the nave and north aisle contain traces of wall paintings. The chancel has a triple sedilia.
