Full Description

PRN 23733 During fieldwalking seven sherds of very abraded 13th-14th century pottery was recovered. This could be suggestive of low scale human occupation of the site or more likely it is associated with manuring. {1}{2} A series of ditches was revealed during trial trenching at TF2500 2520, many of which had originally been identified in a previous geophysical survey. The majority of the ditches appear to be part of a typical rural landscape forming field boundaries. Two of the ditches, aligned east-west ran parallel, these are thought to be part of a trackway. Only a small amount of mainly 13th-15th century pottery, eleven sherds in all, these were recovered along with a small quantity of building materials. This is an indicator that the site was outside of any immediate settlement area. {3}{4}{5}
