PRN 62216
During trial trenching located over anomalies originally identified by geophysical survey, a large number of undated pits were revealed, these appear to be in three main groups of up to six pits and also appear singularly. These are thought to have been dug for sand and gravel extraction in fields not subject to intensive agriculture, and have been left to silt naturally. These pits are similar in form and type to those that have been dated to the post medieval period in the same fields (PRN 62217) . {1}{2}{3}
An undated probable quarrying pit and ditches were recorded during a watching brief on the site.{4}{5}
One undated, north south aligned, boundary ditch revealed during archaeological evaluation. {6}{7}
