Full Description

Cropmarks of a possible Bronze Age round barrow, to the east of Bennington Plantation. Visible as a circular enclosure defined by a single ditch measuring roughly 20m in diamater. Cropmarks of a central internal pit were also thought to be discerned. Identified on aerial photography examined as part of the National Mapping Programme. {1} The possible barrow was seen to survive as an upstanding earthwork during a walkover survey, conducted to assess the impact of proposed construction of the Covenham Water Treatment Works to Boston Transfer pipeline. {2}
