Full Description
Cropmarks of a probable Bronze Age round barrow, to the north-west of Calceby. Visible as a circular enclosure, defined by a single ditch measuring roughly 25m in diameter. Identified on aerial photography examined as part of the National Mapping Programme. {1}
The feature is visible on more recent aerial photography as fragmentary cropmarks, measuring 31m by 32m. The poor nature of these cropmarks makes identification difficult, but it was thought more likely that they represent the remains of a later prehistoric or Roman curvilinear enclosure, rather than a barrow as previously thought. {2}
