Full Description

Cropmarks of a probable medieval hollow way, to the south-west of Nocton Priory. Identified on aerial photographs examined as part of the National Mapping Programme. {1}{2} Two linear ditch features, both aligned on a roughly east to west alignment, were recorded in October 2018, during trial trenching on land to the north of Nocton Wood House. The position and alignment of the ditches corresponded well with the westernmost cropmarks previously identified by the NMP, and an association was therefore thought likely. No dating material was recovered from the excavated sections, however, and their exact origin and function remains uncertain. {3}{4}
