During a watching brief, two probable quarry pits, four postholes and five possible postholes, and seven areas of burning. See also PRN's 61817, 61818 and 61822.{1}{2}
A trial trench evaluation and watching brief (TF 02797 52064) on land immediately southwest of previously investigated areas revealed a number undated features. The four trial trenches revealed a small number of features, including an undated gully and an undated ditch, which together might have formed an enclosure. The only other feature, a small pit, produced a single sherd of late Iron Age to early Roman pottery (see PRN 61820). Possible colluvium was identified in two of the trenches. The watching brief element of the project, covering an area of 172 x 43m, disclosed a cluster of three undated pits interpreted as having possible storage or waste disposal functions. An undated pit of smaller size was located away from the main cluster. The only other features were a ditch and three gullies at the southern end of the area (see PRN 61820), and a possible quarry to the north (see PRN 81843). {3}{4}
The area has since been entirely removed by quarrying. {5}
