Full Description
During an evaluation, an post-medieval pit was recorded. {1}{2}
Archaeological excavation was undertaken by Archaeological Project Services in 2003 on land between Flaxengate and Danesgate. A pit, gully and brick lined soakaway which date from the mid 16th to 18th century were revealed along with pottery dating from the mid 17th to 18th century and clay pipe. There was also evidence of the construction of terraced housing on Flaxengate and Danesgate from the mid 19th century and slum clearance and subsequent terracing from the 20th century. {3}{4}
