Full Description
An early 18th century dovecote, built of brown brick laid in English bond. The building is two storeys in height, with dentillated eaves and a pitched pantiled roof. The ground floor has a plain door, whilst the first floor has a semi-circular headed door with five circular openings. In the gable are pigeon holes in the form of an A with 3 tiers of openings. The interior has brick boxes to the first floor. For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate entry in the National Heritage List for England. {1}{2}
An area of rough stonework was noted at the bottom of the western wall of the dovecote in April 2001, during a site visit to inform proposed re-development in this area. It was thought that the stonework might represent the remains of an earlier structure that had stood on the site, and had been re-used in the construction of the dovecote in the 18th century. {3}{4}
