Full Description

61476 Canwick Hall was a country house, which was converted into flats in 1945. It is eighteenth century, and was remodelled and extended in 1810 for Colonel Waldo Sibthorp. For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {1} It is described in White's Directoy as 'a large modern stone mansion, with pleasant grounds'. It stands partly on the site of the old hall, which had long been the seat of the Sibthorps, many of whom represented Lincoln in parliament since the reign of George II'. {2} Hall Farm, Canwick. Partially extant 18th century farmstead. Regular courtyard with linked working buildings to all four sides of the yard. The farmhouse is detached from the main working complex. There has been a partial loss (less than 50%) of traditional buildings. Located within a Church and/or Manor farm group. {6}
