Full Description
13564
The wapentake of Skirbeck was named 'Ulmerestig' at Domesday, after the settlement of Wolmersty (see PRN 13123). It is possible that the assembly place was this settlement. The name probably derives from an Old English personal name 'Wulfmaer' and 'stig', meaning 'path'. {1}
