The remains of Second World War buildings survive in the strip of woodland along Beggars Lane, known as 'The Belt'. The remains are in the form of concrete hard standings and brick huts. These buildings may be associated with the RAF Regiment Depot, opened in December 1941 and closed in August 1946, which was specifically responsible for the defence of airfields and other RAF stations from ground and air attacks. {1}{2}
