Full Description

61363 Field 6 east of Cliff Lane has been fieldwalked by the Washingborough Archaeology Group on two occasions. The first was carried out on 7th February 1993, when transects walked were 5 metres apart. The second was 19th November 1995, when the transects were 10 metres apart. On the first walk 9 sherds of shelly ware were recovered, which showed little signs of weathering, and 4 of the sherds were from the same vessel. They were discovered within 4m of each other at TF 0188 6940. In addition 8 sherds of greyware were recovered and a spindle whorl which may be Roman (or medieval). The second walk yielded 7 sherds of Roman pottery. {1}
