Full Description
PRN 35257
During an evaluation, a pit containing ironstone fragments and a sherd of 10th-12th century pottery were recorded. A piece of smithing slag was also recovered from a grave dated to the 10th-12th century from pottery finds. These finds and features indicate ironstone quarrying and early smithing activity. {1}{2}
During a watching brief, three pieces of smithing slag were recovered. {3}{4}
During a watching brief in either 2000 or 2001, a sherd of ninth to eleventh century pottery was recovered. {5}{6}
