Full Description

One sherd of Roman pot and one tile fragment were found during fieldwalking, on land south of Bonemill Lane. {1}{2} Roman pottery was recovered from a gully in trial trench 21 during an evaluation south of Bonemill Lane. {3}{4} One piece of pottery from the evaluation on this site has been drawn and described separately. It is an unusual vessel leg with foot in a coarse gritty fabric, and is thought to be Roman although it could be medieval (the original report in 1999 suggested that it might have been Iron Age, but this idea appears to have been discounted). {5}
