Full Description

An undated ditch and pit were identified during a watching brief. They may relate to the Iron Age activity located to the south. Alternatively it may be a drainage ditch associated with the possible line of the Baston Outgang which is thought to be overlain by the present Greatford Road. The only artefactual material to be recovered was medieval pottery. {1}{2} During a watching brief at TF 1090 1380 a possible boundary ditch was recorded, although no exact date can be attributed to it, it is thought to be post medieval. {3}{4} Two undated probable gravel extraction pits were revealed during a watching brief on land adjacent to 17 Greatford Road, Baston. Redeposited medieval and later pottery was recovered from overlying deposits. {5}{6}
